The Barnfield College Studio School (http://www.barnfield.ac.uk/files/scan2.pdf) is a step forward in modernising education and breaking down barriers between the educational environment and the workplace. I am now working with another FE college to do something similar, and I know of a few other college Principals who are interested in this kind of approach. The fact that Gordon Brown and Ed Balls have urged colleges and Universities to get involved in sponsoring Academies (potentially) opens up lots of exciting avenues like this.
